Girls Soccer: Summer Info and Tryout Schedule 2020

As we all know, we have been living in unprecedented times and there is so much uncertainty right now. So as I give you this information, just know that we will proceed as we can with all this but everything is subject to change as we get more guidance from the governor and health officials.  I just didn’t want to wait any longer  to get some info out to you guys for planning purposes. If everything goes without a hitch, tryouts will start on Monday August 24th, with double sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. More information on tryouts later in the document. 


Summer League:


Summer League is a great opportunity to get on the field with other players and some of the incoming freshmen. As in the past, games are Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30, and they are set to begin July 14 and run until August 13. Please contact Lisa Roy for information: lmr4ms@gmail.com


Summer Soccer Camp: (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!)


Upper 90 Soccer Academy Girls High School Camp

Cost: $160 

Excellent camp to prep for the fall season, with excellent coaches. Many North Shore high school teams attend, and teams are trained together. Terrific opportunity. I would highly recommend this, as individuals, and to benefit our team as a whole. Let’s get as many girls as possible!!

Summer Strength and Conditioning:


In the past, Mr. Connors has run these at the school, but as we know that was not possible this year. So he put together some great plans and resources, accessible to all of you via Google Classroom. Here are the codes:

General Info:


All players: Please get registered online ASAP! It’s very chaotic to deal with people trying to get registered at the last minute. 


New players: Please make sure you have read the google doc on the athletic website in its entirety.  Here is a link:



Athletes should be running during the summer in preparation for tryouts. Long distance running is a necessity (we start the first day with a timed mile run) and doing sprints is highly recommended (half field and full field). We will start with 5 timed 20-60’s on the first day of tryouts.  I would definitely start now.


Tentative Tryout Schedule:  


All Doubles: 

Morning Session  8-10:30

Afternoon Session 11:15 -1:15

Break in between sessions: Bring light snacks and lots of water. Players will relax and get to know each other/catch up.


Day 1 August 24th Double Sessions  (pick up and drop off in stadium parking lot)

Sign in 7:30-8am at far corner of stadium parking lot (by the bathrooms)

Then we will do a timed mile on the track. Have your running shoes ready. The rest of tryouts will take place on the field up the hill from the stadium, by the red horse barn.


Day 2 August 25th Double Sessions


Day 3 August 26th Double Sessions - Cuts will be announced at the end of practice.


Important Notes for tryouts:


-INCOMING FRESHMAN BRING PAPER COPY 1st DAY NO EXCEPTIONS (we don’t have access to nurse’s office/files today)

-On the first day we will begin with a timed 1 mile run on the track. Players must be able to complete in UNDER 10 minutes. Players MUST HAVE running shoes for this portion of tryouts. Cleats will be fine for the rest of the practice.

-All players should plan to attend all practices. Attendance will be taken

-Check the girls soccer page frequently to be updated on any changes to the schedule

-Bring water and light snacks for the break during double sessions                                                                                                      -ALWAYS bring your shinguards!!
